 Rhodochrosite
ist a trigonal aggregate
of manganese-carbonat and occurs as a weathering-product near manganese
deposits.
The rock´s colour shows layers of weaker and darker rose-red. Due to its low durability (Hardness: 4), rhodochrosite is used for cabochons and necklaces or other pieces of jewellery not exposed to heavy wear. Sometimes also transparent mineral species are discovered. Occurances of rhodochrosite: USA, Argentinia. |
