 Rhodonite
ist a triclinic aggregate of manganese-silicate(
Hardness 5.5 - 6.5) and is known to be a weathering-product of manganese
deposits.
The rock has as dark rose-red colour with black layers of manganese-dioxide. Rhodonite is used for cabochons and necklaces, but also for arts and crafts. Sources: USA, Tansania, Russia. |
